It’s a good week to be Clint Steindl. Fresh off of signing a two-year contract extension with Tasmania the JackJumpers captain is primed to suit up for his first game of the season.
It’s a good week to be Clint Steindl. Fresh off of signing a two-year contract extension with Tasmania the JackJumpers captain is primed to suit up for his first game of the season.
Steindl has been sidelined for the entirety of Tasmania’s NBL23 season so far courtesy of a knee injury he picked up while representing the Boomers in the off-season. Guard Isaac White was initially signed as an injury replacement for the veteran before being re-purposed as a development player.
“I’m ready to go,” Steindl said. “This past week has been great. [I’m] moving freely, [I] feel confident.
“Hopefully I can get out there and just trust the work I’ve been able to put in, and the medical team has been able to put into me and get out there and do what I do.”
While Steindl is a confirmed inclusion for Tasmania’s clash with New Zealand on Saturday, fans might have to wait a while longer before seeing injured centre Will Magnay back in action.
Magnay, like Steindl, has been sidelined for the entire NBL23 season so far due to persistent knee issues.
“Will is a chance, but most will depend on tomorrow,” JackJumpers assistant coach Jacob Chance said.
“We’re just waiting. Hopefully he pulls up well and we’ll see how we go.
“He’s close. If it’s not this one, not the next one, it might be the one after.”
