Better starts needed for Cats
Perth Wildcats coach Scott Morrison has declared an answer needs to be found for his side’s slow starts after they fell behind 29-13 at quarter time of last night’s loss to the Adelaide 36ers.
“To be honest, it’s been a problem since the Blitz…maybe it’s on me for how I’m preparing the team. Maybe it’s that a line up change is in order. Maybe the guys have got to smarten up a little and be more ready to play with intensity,” Morrison said via The West Australian.
Start key for Sixers
36ers coach CJ Bruton has revealed he stressed the importance of a fast start with his players ahead of last night’s game, after he saw other teams around the league struggle in their return match from COVID breaks.
“I told our boys that I didn’t think we would but there was a way we had to go about it to not be like that. We did come out with energy, we made shots and our delivery was good and direct with what we wanted to do,” Bruton said.
JJ’s demand more from McIntosh
Tasmania JackJumpers coach Scott Roth says the club is demanding import MiKyle McIntosh to make a bigger impact.
“My expectation is more from him, and he knows we need more from him. We are putting some pressure on him to continue to work on his conditioning, continue to get in better shape and continue to try and make an impact for a longer period of time on the floor,” Roth said.
Blessing in disguise for McCall
The Cairns Taipans’ COVID-enforced break has helped star import Tahjere McCall fully recover from a knee injury which kept him out of the club’s New Year’s Eve game.
“The days off are helping tremendously, I can’t complain about that, it’s a blessing in disguise. It gives me a lot more time to strengthen to make sure I’m back completely,” McCall said via the Cairns Post.
Bullets desperate for win streak
Brisbane Bullets star Lamar Patterson says the club is determined to start their first winning streak of the season when they face the Sydney Kings on Friday night.
“We have a win-lose pattern right now. We’ll try to string a couple of Ws in a row,” Patterson said via Newscorp.
Hawks look to soar on D
Illawarra Hawks star Tyler Harvey says the club’s focus has to be playing better on the defensive end ahead of Saturday’s semi-final rematch with the Wildcats.
“Last year we were one of the best defensive teams in the league, and I've seen the level that we have to get to to get to that point again. We can do it with this team, and we will do it with this team, Goorj will make sure of it,” Harvey said via the Illawarra Mercury.
