Hunter injury “seems serious”
Sydney Kings coach Chase Buford concedes the knee injury suffered by import RJ Hunter in last night’s loss to Illawarra seems serious.
“Feel for him. I don’t want to speculate on what’s happened, but it seems serious. He is a great kid, he has been a light for our group, he has been fun to be around, and he has had some shit luck…and this got shittier,” Buford said.
Small ball Hawks fly
Illawarra Hawks coach Brian Goorjian says a small ball line-up of Tyler Harvey, Xavier Rathan-Mayes, Justinian Jessup, Antonius Cleveland and Sam Froling was the game-changer in their win over Sydney last night.
"That was a really tough line-up and that was really the turning point and what led to the victory,” Goorjian said via the Illawarra Mercury.
United ready for new period of season
As the NBL season swings back into full gear, Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman says his squad is approaching their next block of fixtures as a new period of the campaign.
“Normally, the schedule sorts itself out and placings (on the ladder) start to sort themselves out around the Christmas period of a normal season. But this is the new period. This is the ‘out-of-Covid period’,” Vickerman said via Newscorp.
Phoenix firing to go
The South East Melbourne Phoenix are chomping at the bit to play tomorrow’s game against Brisbane, with coach Simon Mitchell declaring “we’re not in this business just to train”.
NBLxNBA players thriving
Indiana Pacers guard Keifer Sykes believes NBA personnel are becoming more and more aware of how much talent exists in the NBL.
“People see guys that come from the NBL as not just good enough to play in the NBA, but also ready to thrive when they get here…so, it’s not like we are just playing in the NBA coming from the NBL, we are more than ready,” Sykes said via Newscorp.
