Talking points

Big man battle
There has been some history when Will Magnay and Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. go head-to-head, tracing back to their battle in the Championship series two years ago. On one side you have one of the best defenders in the league and on the other you have arguably the best offensive big man, which sets up for an enticing encounter.

Perth’s Ignite hopes
This will be the third Ignite Cup game for the Wildcats, which means they will be trying to get the maximum total of points if they are any hope of playing off for the prize money in the final. With seven total points up for grabs, if the Wildcats can go into Tasmania and get at least six, they give themselves a big chance of getting one step closer to that goal.

What they're saying

JackJumpers big man Will Magnay on the resilience of his side:
“It’s the beauty of basketball, you can be down 20 with five minutes left and you’ve still got a chance and there’s always hope.

“We’ve had some pretty good wins at this club in history and I always believe there is a shot and trying to get the whole group to believe it as well.

“We don’t love playing those tight close games but like I said, to be able to grind one out was pretty good.”

Wildcats coach John Rillie on what new signing David Duke Jr will bring to his squad:
“With David joining us, he will allow our defence to continue to grow as he’s elite at the guard spot.

"He’s a dynamic open court player so he will generate some easier baskets, something this team has lacked to date.”
