Talking points

Mixed emotions
One of these two teams is going to end the round feeling much better about themselves than the other. Both Sydney and Perth are coming off poor losses and will be hoping to bounce back in a positive fashion.

Absence creates opportunities
With the release of Mason Jones, John Rillie will give those guard minutes to some of the young stars in Ben Henshall, Elijah Pepper and Jaron Rillie, until they find a replacement. We have seen numerous teams have to go deep into their roster early on in the season and it can turn out to be a silver lining of being down key pieces.

What they're saying

Kings coach Brian Goorjian:
"Our mindset coming into [any game], we're not going to take a backwards step.

"That's the mindset we've got to have and we know we're in for a physical one come Sunday."

Wildcats coach John Rillie on the club releasing Mason Jones:
“Statistics never play a part in this. In my time there have been some imports come under a lot of scrutiny that haven’t been performing well and we stuck with them. We just need to find a different balance.

“It’s the fit for the group. We’ve made some quality additions to our roster. Until you get the band together, you don’t exactly know how they will look and how the instruments will sound together.

“When you’re putting a roster together in the off-season, you don’t exactly know the dynamic. We’ve made our decision Well move on. Mason will move on. We have to be ready to go against Sydney.”
