Talking points

Jaylen Adams needs to fire
With the Bullets rocked by injuries once again, they need their former league MVP in Jaylen Adams to find that form and fast. Adams has struggled so far this season and without any help in the backcourt, the responsibility on his shoulders has increased.

Casey Prather is doing his best to carry this team, but now is the time for Adams to step up.

JLA for MVP
Perth's marquee big man has quietly been dominating to start the season and is right in the MVP conversation. Jo Lual-Acuil Jr is proving to be unstoppable on both ends of the floor, as he continues to put up big numbers and chalk up wins.

What they're saying

Wildcats skipper Jesse Wagstaff on the impending return of guard Sunday Dech:
“Listening to the court when he’s on it, he brings a great voice. To be able to get after it defensively, bring that voice and lead like that is huge.

“I still see him as quite young, but he’s been around the traps for a while and is quite experienced now. That experience is a great asset.

“He’s also talented offensively. I don’t think people give him credit enough for that. He’ll slot in really well. He moves the ball well and finds guys. He’s a big piece.”

NBL legend Chris Anstey on the Brisbane Bullets:
"A lot of eyes will be on Brisbane this week, to see if they can respond.

"You talk about culture and I'm not sure they know what their culture is yet. I'm sure they'd like it to be a particular thing, but we haven't seen it yet.

"I'm interested to see what they look like [against Perth and Melbourne United] and there is growing pressure on Brisbane to understand if they can be competitive this year.

"They put together a team on paper that should be competitive, it hasn't proven to be yet.

"I'll be watching with interest to see if they've prepared with the type of emotion required to win a game."
