The Australian Boomers team have had a week of high-intensity, high-impact training to prepare for their final round of the FIBA World Cup Qualifying window.

The Australian Boomers team have had a week of high-intensity, high-impact training to prepare for their final round of the FIBA World Cup Qualifying window.

The Boomers will suit up for two games this week, tonight at 7:00pm AEDT against Bahrain, and Sunday at 3:00pm AEDT against Kazakhstan.

Despite already qualifying for the World Cup, Australia is ready to hit the floor for games that still hold importance for seeding at the event.

NBL veteran Nathan Sobey reiterated the tough preparation the team has gone through to try and earn themselves an advantageous position in the World Cup, starting August 25.

“It’s been great so far this week, training has been high intensity and the boys have been getting after it and getting ready for the games,” Sobey said.

Guard Kyle Adnam and big Isaac Humphries spoke on the honour of representing Australia and emphasised the ‘Boomer culture’ which will carry them through, despite the nation’s NBA stars not participating in this window.

“The excitement around the group is amazing anytime you come into a camp like this because it is short,” Adnam said.

“It’s about playing together, continuing that Boomers culture and tradition. The way we play on and off the floor and represent ourselves is really important. We’re ready to rock.”

Humphries added, “It’s really intense and it’s high pressure but it’s awesome. You really feel a sense of pride, camaraderie and a brotherhood. Buying into that has been the message for the week”.

Humphries also touched on the key messaging Boomers head coach Dean Vickerman relayed to the team this week.

“Give it your best shot and take everything in as it is,” Humphries said.

The Boomers will host Bahrain tonight at the State Basketball Centre at 7:00pm AEDT.
