Hickey a Hawk for NBL25

Friday, April 12, 2024
Fan favourite Will Hickey will have a chance to continue his rapid improvement at the Hawks.
He's quickly becoming one of the most exciting players in the NBL, and Will 'Davo' Hickey will remain a Hawk until at least the end of the NBL25 season.
Illawarra has exercised the second-year option on Hickey's contract, meaning the fan favourite will have a chance to continue his rapid improvement under recently signed coach Justin Tatum.
Hickey averaged 5.2 points a game across NBL24, but it was during the Finals where he really stood tall.
He gained a place in the Hawks' starting lineup, and averaged 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 22 minutes, across five Finals appearances.
Illawarra GM of Basketball Mat Campbell said the club is thrilled with Hickey's ongoing commitment.
"Davo was a standout player during the NBL24 season, particularly going into the Finals series. His ability to remain agile on the court and defend from multiple positions is a key component to our roster going into NBL25," Campbell said.
"We are looking forward to continuing to build out the roster with confidence in key components such as Hickey's contribution to the court, ahead of next week's Free Agency period."
The Hawks have several key pieces in place for NBL25, with Hyunjung Lee, Lachlan Olbrich, Mason Peatling, Sam Froling and Todd Blanchfield among those contracted, but the likes of Tyler Harvey, Gary Clark and Justin Robinson currently remain unsigned.
