Adelaide 36ers star Robert Franks has faith in youngster Nick Marshall to step up for the 36ers as they return to the court from the FIBA international break.

Adelaide 36ers star Robert Franks has revealed his faith in development player Nick Marshall, after the 23-year-old was elevated to the main roster following the departure of import guard Craig Randall II.

The 36ers return to the court this weekend after the culmination of the FIBA international break, and Franks has praised Marshall for his confidence to step up and fill a needed role for the side.

After lofty pre-season predictions surrounding the group, Adelaide has started the season with a 3-4 record to currently sit eighth on the ladder.

“I think he (Marshall) is going to be big for us, he’s very confident, he knows the system and he’s a guy who goes out there and is fearless,” Franks said.

“Nick is going to be a guy that comes to the party and really helps us win basketball games.”

Franks added he is excited to see how the group can improve following the international break.

“We have a good court group now to keep moving forward. We have enough inner circle to go win games," Franks said.

“It’s been a little bit of an adjustment but as professionals that’s just how it goes.

“I look forward to it."

Sixers guard Mitch McCarron is headed back to Adelaide following a successful international break with the Boomers, in which he led the side to a massive with over Kazakhstan in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers over the weekend.

Franks spoke highly of McCarron's ability to guide the team.

“Mitch is that point guard you love to play with, he wants to pass, and he wants to make his teammates look good,” Franks said.

“That’s the benefit of having Mitch out there, he is going to look for you, he is very selfless, one of the most selfless teammates I’ve had, you can’t take a guy like mitch for granted, you’ve really got to appreciate what he brings to the table.

“Mitch is Mitch, he’s going to run this team and do everything he needs to do on a game-to-game day basis, I expect Mitch to do everything for us at the point guard position.”

The 36ers are on the road this week, facing Melbourne United on Thursday at 7:30pm AEDT.
