Fans in Darwin will be able to enjoy a double-header of Hungry Jack’s NBL action for as little as $20.
Tickets to the NBL Blitz are now on sale, with children’s tickets just $20 and adults $30. Family passes, membership packages and courtside seating are also available.
The Blitz will tip-off on Friday, September 16, when the Phoenix battle the 36ers. Double-headers will be played daily from September 17 to September 23, with fans able to enjoy two games for the price of one.
All games will be played at the Darwin Basketball Association, located at the Marrara Sporting Complex, and tickets can be purchased from nblblitz.com.au.
Fans will have the chance to see the Brisbane Bullets’ new superstar Aron Baynes in action and a revamped Adelaide 36ers with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Antonius Cleveland out to flex his muscle. There are new coaches at the helm for New Zealand, Illawarra and Perth, and at Melbourne United, Dean Vickerman will be trying to cover the loss of several key players.
“The Blitz is set to be the hottest ticket in town and we encourage people to get in early to avoid missing out,” NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said.
“We wanted to ensure the Blitz was accessible to all and that is reflected in our affordable pricing, which gives fans a great two-for-one option.
“We are looking forward to a week of world-class basketball and inclusive community activity across the Territory. We thank the Government of the Northern Territory and Northern Territory Major Events Company for their support and can’t wait for tip-off.”
“Basketball is booming in the Territory, with strong participation numbers and the impressive performance of the Darwin Salties in their inaugural NBL1 North season really fuelling the fire," Northern Territory Minister for Major Events, Paul Kirby, said.
“The NBL Blitz will see an influx of people into the Territory, including not only the teams and their support crews, but also interstate fans using the match as a chance to enjoy a holiday here. We have 15 games taking place over eight days right here in Darwin, plus a 3x3 Pro Hustle tournament. Combined with all our unique tourism experiences, people are in for the trip of a lifetime.”
All games will be streamed on Kayo Freebies. Kayo Freebies is free with no credit card details required. Kayo Freebies can be accessed by downloading the Kayo Sports app or by visiting kayosports.com.au/freebies and creating an account.
A 3x3 Pro Hustle competition will also be played during the Blitz at the Darwin Waterfront on September 17 and 18.
The winning team of the Blitz will be awarded the Loggins-Bruton Cup, while the tournament’s most outstanding player will take home the Ray Borner Medal.
