Adelaide 36ers import Antonius Cleveland has revealed he “wouldn’t be shocked” if recently released import Craig Randall II was to “stay in this league”.
Several teams have been reported to be on the lookout for potential import replacements and Cleveland wouldn’t be surprised if a team snapped Randall II up.
“I think he could definitely help those teams,” Cleveland said.
“He’s a good player, so maybe some people can think that they could work through it, it’s a high risk, high reward.”
“I wouldn’t be shocked if he stayed in this league."
Randall II and the 36ers sensationally mutually agreed to part ways earlier this week, despite the 26-year-old averaging 20.3 points per game.
When asked on his thoughts of Randall II as a teammate, Cleveland was supportive of him, saying he “tried to be like a big brother for him”.
“We all know he was kind of a hot head at times…I tried to help him along the way in any way that I felt…trying to be a good teammate and brother off the court,” Cleveland said.
“Some people are passionate, and they play with their emotions on their sleeve.
“Things got to him, and he showed it more often than some other players.”
Cleveland also opened up on his emotions when he heard the news of Randall II’s release.
“I was shocked … bittersweet," he said. I hate it, you never want to see anybody lose their job.
“To help us move forward and to help the team, I am all for it. An unfortunate situation but it is time to put our focus on the team and try to get better.”
