Champions crowned in NBL Oz Gaming Tournament Series

After two weeks of the NBL Oz Gaming Tournament Series, two teams stand on top as the champions of Australia.

Team Ruthless (5v5) and Zero Tolerance (3v3) took home NBA 2K Draft Elibilgity and cash prizes of $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.

All eight players are now eligible to be selected by any NBA 2K League franchise in the draft, setting up a life-changing opportunity for these gamers.

With the best teams in the region competing, the intensity created a highly entertaining and competitive tournament – highlighted by Ruthless defeating the region’s dominant team, No Way Out, with a game-winning three-pointer in Game 5 of the 5v5 Grand Final.

The reigning NBA 2K League Coach of the Year, Mitchell ‘Mootyy’ Franklin said that the ANZ NBA 2K scene has grown into the second-best region in the world.

“There’s a lot of talent out there, and I believe it’s the second-best region right behind America,” Mootyy said.

Despite one team losing, coach Mootyy said that all 10 players who played in the Grand Final were ready for the NBA 2K League.

“It’s hard to deny at this rate, No Way Out is known as the ‘big dogs’ over there and Ruthless is taking it to them,” he said.

“I don’t see why there’s an argument for all 10 to be league calibre. At least for coaches and teams over here (America) to keep an eye on them throughout the rest of predraft.”
