Bullets Narrow Roster Search

Wednesday, July 12, 2023
The Bullets are closing in on locking in a new import.
The Brisbane Bullets continue to narrow down their search for an import, with the NBA's Summer League looming as a key recruiting destination.
After a disappointing NBL23 campaign, the Bullets have made key changes on and off the court, led by the appointment of Justin Schueller in the head-coaching role. Now, their roster is getting closer to completion.
“The Brisbane Bullets met with a few guys yesterday ... they had some meetings,” ESPN inside Olgun Uluc revealed on Tuesday night, Australian time.
“Stu Lash (senior basketball advisor) was in town and he left today.
“I’m told there’s a top three when it comes to finding that import wing. I feel like there will be a decision sooner than later on who that’s going to be, but the Bullets are narrowing down their candidates for who they’re going to fill their final roster spot with.”
Brisbane has bolstered its local contingent with the addition of Isaac White and Mitch Norton from rival clubs, while Shannon Scott has made the switch from the Cairns Taipans.
Young gun Rocco Zikarsky committed to the club last week, while one of the key remaining pieces could be locked in over the next week in Las Vegas.
Assistant coach Greg Vanderjagt spoke on the difficulty to scout an import at Summer League.
“It’s keeping an eye on the talent and we’re still trying to fill that import wing spot,” Vaderjagt said.
“You see someone you like and then they’re on a two-way, or they’re on a roster spot, then the process starts again.
“It’s a never-ending grind and it’s a long week,” he said.
The Bullets' first game of NBL24 is on Friday, September 29 against the Adelaide 36ers.
