Blitz Turnout Key to Darwin NBL Bid

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger has declared the attendances during the NBL Blitz a “very important bellwether” for Darwin’s expansion bid.

Darwin is one of several options being considered by the league for expansion, with this month’s Blitz bringing the entire NBL to Darwin, between September 16 to 23. 

Loeliger says fan attendance during 15 games of the Blitz is essential to the city's NBL ambitions.

“Public interest in the competition at large is something we’re keeping a pretty close eye. Whether or not fans turn out for the Blitz is a very important bellwether for how far our consideration goes or which direction or consideration takes,” Loeliger told Newscorp.

An upgraded stadium with greater capacity is another box to be ticked for Darwin's bid.
