Perth Wildcats rising star Ben Henshall is aiming to become an elite defensive stopper during the remainder of the NBL26 season.

Through his first two seasons in the NBL, Perth Wildcats' Ben Henshall has established himself as one of the country's top up-and-coming scorers.

But the 21-year-old has revealed that it is on the other side of the floor that he is aiming to take his game to the next level during the remainder of the Hungry Jack's NBL26 season.

“I want to take another massive jump on the defensive end. I want to be a guy that can guard their best player," Henshall told The West Australian.

"I think focusing more on that and helping that to translate into my offence is a big goal of mine for the rest of the season."

Ben Henshall is a $160,800 guard/forward in the NBL’s official fantasy game, Beat The Coach, presented by Choice Hotels. Take on Damon Lowery and Beat the Coach in any round of the NBL26 Season and you’ll receive an entry into the end-of-season $10,000 prize draw, including $5,000 cash and $5,000 in Choice Hotels™ gift vouchers. Sign up to play now here.

The West Australian product's next chance to prove that comes on Sunday, when his fifth-placed Wildcats travel to Spark Arena to face the seventh -placed Breakers.

Not only does this Round 15 fixture present him the chance to slow down New Zealand star Parker Jackson-Cartwright, who is averaging 17.4 points a game this season, but also an opportunity to play extended minutes in the wake of David Duke Jr's elbow injury.

"No matter what minutes I get, I need to come in with the same energy and intent as I did. Whether I’m coming off the bench or starting, if I can bring it on the defensive end, it is going to help our team to win," Henshall said.

Sunday's fixture between New Zealand and Perth tips off at 2.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN and Channel 10.
