Beat The Coach: Top Round 6 picks & PLAY NOW
Round 6 of NBL26 will see six teams suit up twice for another big weekend of basketball. Some huge names will only be playing once this weekend, but other stars have continued to impress, giving coaches plenty of options to pick from for their teams this week.
Damon Lowery had a very impressive showing in Round 5, defeating over 90% of coaches. He’ll be eager for another big week, so you’ll need to puta strong side together to take him on in Round 6 of Beat The Coach, presented byChoice Hotels.
Premium options:
Casey Prather – Brisbane Bullets ($400,700)
Tyrell Harrison – Brisbane Bullets ($338,700)
Andrew Andrews – Cairns Taipans ($255,800)
Admiral Schofield – Cairns Taipans ($209,900)
Chris Goulding – Melbourne United ($251,000)
Jesse Edwards – Melbourne United ($304,200)
Tyson Walker – Melbourne United ($304,100)
Jo-Lual Acuil Jr – Perth Wildcats ($374,800)
Kristian Doolittle – Perth Wildcats ($261,000)
Nathan Sobey – South East Melbourne Phoenix ($333,800)
Hunter Maldonado – South East Melbourne Phoenix ($272,100)
Kendric Davis – Sydney Kings ($406,400)
Xavier Cooks – Sydney Kings ($396,700)
Tim Soares – Sydney Kings ($276,400)
Casey Prather had two huge games for the Bullets last week, with 45 SuperCoach points against Melbourne United and 98 for the round.Facing New Zealand and South East Melbourne this weekend, he could be on for another huge total.
His teammate Tyrell Harrison also had a big round with 92 SuperCoach points over two games and would be a fantastic pick in Round6, with the third highest average amongst the league’s center options.
Andrew Andrews and Admiral Schofield both scored strongly for the Cairns Taipans last week, playing an important role in the absence of Jack McVeigh. They will look to back up their performances across two games at home in Round 6.
Tyson Walker played his best basketball of the year so far over the weekend, with 86 SuperCoach points across two games. His price has jumped to $304,100, but he’s still a terrific option given the form he’s in.
Chris Goulding scored 60 points last weekend, though he is still on limited minutes and will look to improve upon that total as he hits the court more in the coming weeks.
Jesse Edwards had a down scoring night against theNew Zealand Breakers which effected his weekend total, but he was still very strong defensively. With the consistency Edwards has shown this season, you’d count on him to bounce back over two outings in Round 6.
Wildcats big man Jo Lual-Acuil Jr had a strong pair of games last weekend and has not dropped under 30 SuperCoach points at all so far this season. He scored a total of 89 SuperCoach points against the Hawks and Taipans in Rounds 3 and 4 and will look to do the same as he faces those sides again this week.
Kristian Doolittle had his biggest SuperCoach game of the season so far against the Kings on Sunday, scoring 36 points after theWildcats lost Dylan Windler to injury early on. He will be important once again this week with Windler missing, and would be a strong option at $261,000.
Nathan Sobey had a down night in his side’s loss to the 36ers on Thursday night, but followed it up with a strong showing in their blowout victory over the Hawks, finishing with 40 SuperCoach points. 57 for the weekend is nothing to scoff at, and he’s a strong chance to back it up with an average of 32.6 per game this year.
His teammate Hunter Maldonado had a slower start to the season but was impressive in Round 5 with 71 points across the two games. If he has finally hit a run of form, Maldonado would be a solid point of difference for coaches in Round 6.
The Sydney Kings duo of Kendric Davis and XavierCooks were both excellent once again, with 67 and 73 SuperCoach points respectively over the weekend. The pair are enjoying a fantastic run of form and either would be a great premium choice.
Tim Soares also has his best week of the year so far and would be a strong center choice at just $276,400, after scoring 59 combinedSuperCoach points against the JackJumpers and Wildcats last weekend.
Budget-friendly picks:
Lamar Patterson – Brisbane Bullets ($146,400)
Tristan Devers – Brisbane Bullets ($97,800)
Alex Higgins-Titsha – Cairns Taipans ($187,500)
Reyne Smith – Cairns Taipans ($117,900)
Fabijan Krslovic – Melbourne United ($169,200)
Tanner Krebs – Melbourne United ($139,400)
Jaron Rillie – Perth Wildcats ($106,600)
Owen Foxwell - South East Melbourne Phoenix ($186,800)
Angus Glover - South East Melbourne Phoenix ($197,400)
Malique Lewis - South East Melbourne Phoenix ($169,900)
Kouat Noi – Sydney Kings ($192,100)
Jaylin Galloway – Sydney Kings ($141,700)
The Brisbane Bullets duo of Lamar Patterson and Tristan Devers has consistent showings in Round 5, dropping 33 and 35 SuperCoach points respectively over the weekend. They should maintain their roles for the foreseeable future with the injuries of Sam McDaniel and Mitch Norton still affecting the Bullets lineup.
Alex Higgins-Titsha is another player who has taken on a bigger role with the absence of Jack McVeigh in Cairns, playing 33 minutes against the Adelaide 36ers last week. His increased presence could translate into some big points over the next few games.
Reyne Smith has consistently been a strong option in double-game weekends for the Taipans given his scoring potential and is one for coaches to look at again this weekend with his price still sitting at just$117,900.
United big man Fabijan Krslovic was the third highest scorer for the team in Round 5 with 45 points across the two games, and firms as a strong option again due to his presence in the paint.
Tanner Krebs was equally as impressive, contributing well from beyond the arc and finishing with 36 SuperCoach points acrossMelbourne’s two games last weekend.
Jaron Rillie is still by far the best budget option at the Perth Wildcats, backing up a pair of strong performances with another 38SuperCoach Points in two games last round. 25 minutes was his highest total for the year and he should retain those for now after the departure of Mason Jones.
Angus Glover is an interesting option after his huge performance against Illawarra where he dropped eight three-pointers. He has had a couple of quiet nights this year, but his ceiling is now undeniable, and he could impress once again if the momentum carries over.
Malique Lewis was solid last weekend, with 34SuperCoach points across South East Melbourne’s two games, while Owen Foxwell failed to replicate his big performance from Round 4 with just 4SuperCoach points against the 36ers, he worked his way back to 17 points against the Hawks on Saturday and will look to reach those heights once again in Round 6.
Kouat Noi’s price has dropped once again, sitting at$192,100 heading into the round. His scoring potential is undeniable given what we saw him do against the 36ers, and he will look to bounce back this week after scoring just 20 SuperCoach points across the last two games.
His teammate Jaylin Galloway’s SuperCoach performances have been up and down over the last few games, but he has maintained his role in the Kings lineup averaging just over 20 minutes per game this year. With that in mind, he’s a chance of putting up a big score on any given night and will look for a big pair of games this weekend.
Tempting single-game choices:
Bryce Cotton – Adelaide 36ers ($455,600)
Parker Jackson-Cartwright – New Zealand Breakers ($404,600)
JaVale McGee – Illawarra Hawks ($347,300)
Bryce Cotton’s 53-point masterclass against theCairns Taipans saw him net 66 of his 111 total SuperCoach points over last weekend. While he probably isn’t as likely to do the same against an undefeatedMelbourne United outfit, taking a punt on the superstar certainly shouldn’t be out of the question.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright has continued a fantastic run of form with a pair of 40-point SuperCoach games last weekend, and will be crucial if the Breakers are to come out on top against the Brisbane Bullets this weekend.
While the Illawarra Hawks have struggled so far this season, JaVale McGee has continually been a force. He was fouled out early in the fourth quarter against the Phoenix and still finished with 51 SuperCoach points. It’s a very intriguing figure considering how much room there is forMcGee and the Hawks to improve.
