Ben Simmons was injured on November 6 against Milwaukee and has played only six games this season.

Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons says team doctors are yet to give him a timetable to return from a nerve impingement in his left lower back.

"It is one of those things where you don't know what time," Simmons said before the Nets' game against Denver on Friday night.

The Australian was injured on November 6 against Milwaukee and has played only six games this season.

Simmons is averaging 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 31.8 minutes.

"It's probably one of the most frustrating points of my career because I want to be able to help my team win," Simmons said.

"It's one of those things that's a part of sports. Not every game is promised. Injuries happen. Unfortunately, it happened."

Boomers coach Brian Goorjian will be anxiously waiting the results of a scan after another one of his stars, Josh Giddey, suffered an injury while playing for Oklahoma City in the NBA.

The Thunder guard sprained his left ankle late in the second quarter of the 134-115 win against the Los Angeles Clippers and failed to return to the court.

The 21-year-old had scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting on Friday (AEDT) before he went down when driving at the basket.

Giddey is a key component to Australia's chances of winning a gold medal at next year's Paris Olympics.
