Aussies Abroad: Olbrich makes first career NBA start

Former Illawarra Hawk Lachlan Olbrich got his first NBA start for the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Australian Lachlan Olbrich was rewarded for his strong play during his rookie NBA season on Saturday AEST, by making his first career start.

The NBL25 champion with the Illawarra Hawks started for the Chicago Bulls in their clash with the Orlando Magic at the United Centre.

In 32 minutes on the court, the big man, who has made 36 appearances for the Bulls this season, produced 6 points, 9 rebounds (career-high), 5 assists (career-high), 1 steal and 1 block, in the Bulls’ 127-103 loss to the Magic.

Fellow Bull and former NBL Next Star Josh Giddey missed the fixture with a hamstring injury.

The Bulls’ final game of the regular season is in Dallas against the Mavericks on Monday AEDT.
