Adelaide sent shock waves through the basketball world with a historic win against the Phoenix Suns last week, and now the focus is on carrying that momentum into the NBL season.
The 36ers arrived home from on Sunday morning and have quickly turned the attention to the JackJumpers, with a big game on Thursday night and their performance against the Suns igniting their hunger and confidence.
Robert Franks, who starred in the NBLxNBA series, wants the 36ers to keep their NBA links and mirror the limitless talent and scoring of the Golden State Warriors.
“Why can't we be the Warriors of the NBL?” Franks told ESPN.
"We have so much talent, so much shooting, so many guys that do different things so let's try and put it all together. It's easier said than done, but if we figure it out and get it clicking everybody's worth is going to go up and it's going to make it a living hell to play against us.”
The Suns quickly learnt the danger of Adelaide’s star scorers Franks, Craig Randall II, and Antonius Cleveland. The trio scored 89 points in the Phoenix win, as Adelaide dropped 134 on the NBA championship contender.
36ers coach CJ Bruton added he was proud how the team represented the NBL, becoming the first team from the league to defeat an NBA team.
“I'm grateful that we played the way we did just to show how competitive our league is.”
