"Dutch NBA center Jesse Edwards brings size, defence and above-the-rim play to Melbourne United, joining a star-studded NBL26 roster ahead of the Blitz."

Melbourne United have completed their roster for NBL26, adding NBA big man Jesse Edwards on a one-year deal.

“Looking at our final import spot, we wanted to bring in someone that was an elite rim protector, which Jesse has been across his college and pro career so far,” Vickerman explained on the team’s website.

“We think he’s got great length, really good timing and elite defensive instincts. He’s also got the mobility to get out and play with pace, which really suits what we’re wanting to do this year.”

Edwards joins United after a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 12 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in the G League.

The 213-centimetre big man has a strong reputation for living above the rim on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

“I’m very excited to join Melbourne United,” Edwards said. “Obviously the team has been one of the best teams in Australia for a while, and I’ve heard great things about the NBL itself. Just to be able to play with such a good team and such a good organisation is exciting. Everyone I’ve talked to from the team has been amazing, so I just can’t wait to get started.”

The 25-year-old is currently with the Dutch National Team in the 2027 World Cup Qualifying Games and is expected to join his new side before the NBL Blitz.

Edwards completes United’s roster, joining returning stars Chris Goulding, Shea Ili, Kyle Bowen, Malith Machar and Tanner Krebs, along with fresh faces Milton Doyle, Finn Delany, Tyson Walker, Fabijan Krslovic, Tom Wilson and Dash Daniels.
