For young athletes with big ambitions, the Step One NBL Rising Stars program is a unique chance to experience what it takes to play at the next level.

Led by NBL stars including Xavier Cooks, Nathan Sobey, DJ Vasiljevic, Angus Glover, Tyrell Harrison and more, the program is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of basketball talent.

Through coaching sessions, mentoring, and exclusive experiences, participants connect directly with NBL players and Step One Ambassadors – building confidence, sharpening their skills, and learning what it means to perform both on and off the court.  

What is the Step One Rising Stars program?
Rising Stars is a six-month development experience for 12-15-year-olds, designed to bridge the gap between grassroots and the professional ranks.  

Led by current NBL athletes who’ve lived the journey, it’s a unique chance to see what goes into becoming an elite player. ‍

What’s in store for you:
- Virtual and in-person sessions across Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales.
- Direct mentorship from NBL players and Step One Ambassadors who’ve already forged their path.
- Exclusive Rising Stars merch pack designed for comfort, confidence, and performance.
- Behind-the-scenes experiences that offer access to the NBL environment and the people who make it special.
Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for ten standout participants to travel to the Gold Coast for the Ignite Cup Final and play on the big stage. ‍

Who can enter:
‍The program is open to under 14 and under 16 boys and girls across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland.

You don’t need to be a representative player – just bring passion, drive, and a love for the game. ‍

How to apply:
‍Anyone who registers for the program will gain access to the first virtual session where they’ll meet the Step One Ambassadors, learn more about the program, and discover how the selection process works.

Following this session, 80 participants will be selected to progress through the six-month Rising Stars program.
