Focusing on one Club at a time over the course of NBL22 - the NBL will shortlist a group of 10 players to be voted for as the Most Iconic Import in their history thanks to Spalding.
Focusing on one Club at a time over the course of NBL22 - the NBL will shortlist a group of 10 players to be voted for as the Most Iconic Import in their history thanks to Spalding.
The criteria for selection goes beyond stats, including which import had the biggest impact on the Club's future and who created the greatest legacy for the future.

Kavossy Franklin:
In his lone season with the Sydney Kings in 2002/03, Franklin helped take the Harbour City to their first NBL championship averaging 17.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Chris Williams:
Averaged 23.6 points and 12.1 rebounds in his rookie season, which netted him the League MVP honours, carried the Kings to their historic first Championship in 2003 at just 22 and a half years of age, and was named the Grand Final MVP.

Steve Carfino:
Mr Magic was the face of the franchise in their first season in 1988 and helped catapault the Kings from Homebush into selling out the Entertainment Centre. Led Sydney in assists in their first two seasons in the NBL.
Ebi Ere:
When the 2004 Championship was to be decided, Ebi Ere stood up and delivered in the final quarter of the final game to secure the Kings second title and led Sydney in scoring in the Grand Final series (19.6ppg).

Isaac Burton:
In 1996 became the first Sydney Kings player to be named as NBL’s best defensive player while leading the team in scoring at 24.4ppg.

Dwayne McClain:
The D-Train averaged 29.7ppg in 1992 and 28.4ppg in 1991 which remains the highest two scoring averages by any player in franchise history. His 45-point game (at 71%FG) in 1992 Semi Final remains the best ever post-season output by a Sydney player. His 2166 points for the Kings remains the most by any import.

Leon Trimmingham:
Led the Kings in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots in both 1994 and 1995 and was all NBL First team in his NBL debut season where ‘Neon-Leon’ was second in NBL scoring at 27.4ppg and his above the rim highlights were as good as any player’s reel.

Josh Childress:
Produced perhaps the most dominating stats in any NBL season. In 2015, became the only player in history to lead the NBL in scoring and rebounding while also being top five in blocks and assists.

James Smith:
Perhaps the greatest dunker in NBL history. Recruited out of Mackay in far North Queensland, Smith lit up Qudos Bank Arena over 51 games in 2001 and 2002 with incredible athleticism.

Casper Ware:
Led the Kings in scoring and assists in 2020 and helped Sydney qualify for their first Grand Final in 12 seasons. In 2021 again led Sydney in assists and was second in scoring while being the only player last year in the NBL to score 40-points in a game.
