NBL players are front and centre suiting up for a multitude of teams.
The NBL1 West conference opened up its season this past weekend, and joined the Central region as the only two competitions to have been in action.
Perth’s Michael Harris started his campaign with the Warwick Senators with an incredible 40-point performance in the team's opening game of the season.
Harris and former Adelaide 36er Todd Withers accounted for 73 of their team’s 97 points between them, in the 14-point win over East Perth.
The Wildcats sharpshooter shot a solid 50 per cent from the field and 46 per cent from three in the win. He also made 14 of his 16 free throw attempts.
Adelaide’s Sunday Dech starred in the defeat for East Perth with 30 points and seven rebounds of his own.
South East Melbourne’s Gorjok Gak also kicked off his NBL1 West campaign in style with Rockingham, and inspired the Flames to an 11-point win over the South West Slammers.
Gak scored a team-high 28 points, and also added 15 rebounds in the victory.
Recently released Phoenix forward Rhys Vague added 20 points and nine rebounds in his first appearance of the season for Cockburn in a 12-point win over Mandurah.
Alex Starling continued his early domination of NBL1 Central with South Adelaide in the Panthers’ second win from two games to open the campaign.
Starling contributed 35 points and 12 rebounds in a hotly contested six-point win, in which Bearcat Jordan Heading added 45 points of his own.
36ers development player Jacob Rigoni took part in a 42-point demolition job by Sturt against North Adelaide, and added a team-high 17 points in the win.
