NBL CEO flags Mills interest

Tuesday, March 5, 2024
NBL CEO David Stevenson has revealed his interest in bringing Patty Mills back to the NBL.
NBL CEO David Stevenson has revealed the competition’s desire to bring Patty Mills back to Australia, following the recent news of the Australian basketball legend’s waiving from NBA side Atlanta.
Mills played nine games for the Melbourne Tigers in the 2011 NBA lockout – where he averaged almost 19 points per game – but has written himself into Boomers folklore as the leader of the bronze medal winning side at the Paris Olympics.
He scored 42 points in the bronze-medal match win over Luka Doncic’s Slovenia, and was a part of San Antonio’s 2014 championship side.

“We would love to have a conversation with him around the NBL,” Stevenson told Fairfax Media.
“We love Patty Mills and for what he has done for our sport in this country – he’s incredible.
“We are always in conversation with Patty and his team. We respect him and his journey.
“This is pretty fresh news … he’s got to take some time and evaluate what his next steps are but we’d love him to be a part of the NBL.”
