Star to miss Kings' Round 5 fixtures

The Sydney Kings will be without star guard Matthew Dellavedova for Wednesday night’s Ignite Cup clash with New Zealand and Sunday’s blockbuster with Perth at Afterpay Arena.

The reigning champions ruled the four-time Olympian out of both Round 5 fixtures due to a calf injury, with the team saying he will be re-evaluated next week.

Sydney, which suffered its first loss of the Hungry Jack’s NBL27 Season on Sunday to Adelaide, will be looking to keep its perfect Ignite Cup record intact after earlier defeating Brisbane.

Dellavedova, who is averaging 6 points, 5.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds this season, will be replaced by Lachlan Bofinger in Brian Goorjian’s squad for both matches.

Wednesday’s fixture at AIS Arena tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
