The Sydney Kings could be set for a significant roster reshuffle, with ESPN insider Olgun Uluc revealing the club is closing in on a deal with Australian big man Harry Wessels, while Jaylin Galloway’s future remains uncertain.
Speaking from the 2026 NBA Summer League, Uluc reported that negotiations with Wessels are “far down the line” and the big man could join the Kings within days.
“We were hearing a lot about Harry Wessels, playing for the San Antonio Spurs,” Uluc said.
“That’s a deal that is far down the line. I think there’s a good chance that happens in the next couple of days.”
The potential addition of 216-centimetre big Wessels would provide another important piece for the Kings as they continue building their frontcourt depth.
However, Galloway’s future could have the greatest impact on the shape of Sydney’s final roster, with Uluc suggesting the defensive-minded wing is increasingly likely to pursue another opportunity.
“We’re still keeping an eye on Jaylin Galloway. That is something that other teams are keeping an eye on. We hear mixed things every week, some weeks he’s in and some weeks he’s out,” Uluc said.
“As of today, from a lot of people that I’ve spoken to it sounds like there’s a chance that Jaylin Galloway won’t be there.”
Should Galloway move on, the Kings could have an opportunity to make another significant roster move by adding an import wing, while using their remaining flexibility to sign Wessels.
“So with Galloway potentially out, I’d say likely out as of today, that opens the door for them to bring in an import wing,” Uluc said.
“If you look at the math, potentially Jaylin Galloway goes to another team, this import wing comes in, and then that last roster spot goes to Harry Wessels.
“And that big spot, on aggregate, is taken up by Harry Wessels, Keli Leaupepe who I think would start, Xavier Cooks and Jason Spurgin can then step in and play some five too.”
