NBL Oz Gaming draftee Lawrence ‘Lawrich’ Mayberry says he is “super hyped” to be joining the team, after being selected with the 24th pick in the 2023 NBA 2K League Draft.
Lawrich is the final piece to join the team and joins ‘Jyden’ McBath-Spencer, Frederick ‘DjayTooCold’ Payton, Harry ‘RealHvzn’ Spierings and Jerry ‘Sick One’ Knapp.
Lawrich said he was excited to join the team and make history with his teammates.
“Right now it is just a crazy feeling, I’m super hyped,” Mayberry said.
“I’m ready to work with this organisation. I think it’s a great group of guys.
“We’re going to have really good relationships, I think we’re gonna build good chemistry and a bond like a real family.
“My emotions were crazy.”
Lawrich has been in contact with Jyden and DjayTooCold, and he admitted he’s more comfortable and at ease going into the team after a few conversations with them.
“Familiar faces are always good. I’ll fit right in and I feel like we’re going to have a real bond,” Lawrich said.
“I’m excited to meet the new Australian, Harry. I think he will do very well and fit right in with us.”
When asked on coach Mitchell ‘Mootyy’ Franklin, Lawrich said he was pleased to have him as a mentor.
“I think he is one of the best coaches in the league and I know he’s a new head coach. I know it’s going to be new for him as well so we’re both excited for each other,” Lawrich said.
Lawrich believes he will bring the necessary energy to succeed as a new team in the league.
“My energy first and foremost, I’m gonna bring good vibes to the team. I’m going to do a lot of good things, I’m going to bring some leadership. Even though I’m a rookie I’m going to bring leadership into the team,” Lawrich said.
“Just good vibes to the team, nothing toxic. Make sure we’re all on the same page, that’s the main thing.”
