The Sydney Kings have announced a duo of number one ticket holders for NBL24, with newly-elected New South Wales premier Chris Minns joining former premier Dominic Perrottet in the role.

Both politicians will also be co-number ticket holders for Sydney’s WNBL side, the Flames.

Perrottet was named as the club’s number one ticket holder last season, as the Kings looked to forge a tradition of the State premier holding the position.

The election of Minns into the role saw him take over from Perrottet, but the new premier has invited his predecessor to sit alongside him at Qudos Bank Arena.

“When Premier Minns suggested joining with Mr. Perrottet in this initiative we couldn’t have through of a better way to demonstrate the universal appeal of basketball – a sport that is truly for everybody,” Hoops Capital majority owner Paul Smith said.

“Sydney is the Hoops Capital of Australia and it’s only fitting that support for basketball in our great state is reflected across the political divide,” Minns added.

“It is particularly fitting Dom continues in this role with me. Sport is a connector in our community, not a divider.”

The Kings defeated the Illawarra Hawks in their opening game of NBL24, and face off against Tasmania and Adelaide in this week’s fixtures.
