New South East Melbourne coach Mike Kelly has continued to add familiar faces to his coaching group

New South East Melbourne coach Mike Kelly has continued to add familiar faces to his coaching group, with former Perth Wildcats assistant Luke Brennan making the move east.

Brennan coached alongside Kelly for the past two seasons with the Wildcats, after initially joining the club as a pathways and development coach.

He has also served as head coach of the Warwick Senators at NBL1 level, and has held multiple positions with Basketball Australia.

“Luke Brennan is a highly experienced NBL coach with exceptional teaching skills,” Kelly said. “He has great ability to connect with players and will be an excellent addition to the Phoenix team.”

“To be in the heartland of basketball with a franchise like the Phoenix is very exciting,” Brennan added.

“During my time at the Wildcats I was lucky enough to be around guys that have won a lot of championships. The thing I have learnt throughout my time there is you can’t cheat the process.

“I was lucky enough to see a few games at the State Basketball Centre during my time at the Wildcats and that place has great energy around it. I can’t wait for that first game in the heartland.”

Brennan has joined former Brisbane interim coach Sam Mackinnon as an assistant under Kelly for NBL24.
