Trey Kell has crossed the divide to the Adelaide 36ers, and he won't have to wait long to face former side South East Melbourne in NBL24.

Kell appeared 24 times for the Phoenix in NBL23, and will make his debut in Adelaide colours in Friday night's pre-season clash against his old side.

He says the most important thing about Friday's clash has nothing to do with him playing against his former team.

“Not too worried with it being against Phoenix,” Kell said.

“The biggest thing is it’s the first game for us, it’s the first opportunity for us to play against someone different so that’s always nice for us this of year.

“Just get a better gauge of where we’re at, it gets to a point where obviously we know each other’s plays, you kind of pick up on we’re gonna do."

Kell initially came to the Phoenix to pair with fellow import Gary Browne in the backcourt, however with Trentyn Flowers, Mitch McCarron, Jason Cadee, Jamaal Franklin and Nick Marshall all capable of playing at the point and shooting guard positions between them, Kell could experience a shift in position in order to get the most out of his minutes.

He believes fans will see a different version of himself that was on display last season.

Kell further mentioned his style of play will be different to what we saw in NBL23.

“I think [I'll play] a little bit different, just being used different with this offence. I’ve been talking with the coaching staff before I got here.

“I think it will be a little different from what I had last year, I’m just excited to see how the product will look on Friday.”

Kell will make his season debut for the 36ers against the Brisbane Bullets on Friday, September 29 at 7:30pm AEST.
