Cadee: Show me the money
Brisbane guard Jason Cadee believes Vic Law’s high-profile move from the Bullets to the Wildcats should prompt the NBL to publicly release individual team spends.
“If I was to guess, Vic would be on way more with the Wildcats than what he was on with us. I honestly think there would be no harm if total team spends were announced. I don’t really care for player salaries, but it would be interesting to see the team spends, especially with so much flexibility around the cap,” Cadee told Newscorp.
Living the NBA dream
NBL Coach of the Year, Trevor Gleeson, still finds himself in awe of his new gig as Toronto Raptors assistant coach.
“The best stage in the world, coaching against the best athletes in the world - if you’re not pinching yourself, I think you’re not being realistic,” Gleeson told Channel 9.
White eyes return
Melbourne United’s Jack White has provided an update on his torn Achilles which ended his rookie season in April.
“It's going really well. All the feedback I've gotten from the physios and medical people involved at our club has been really positive. I still probably got a couple of good months of rehab to get back to 100 percent,” White told SEN.
Phone mix-up behind Goorjian snub
A wrong number turned out to be the reason Australian Boomers’ coach Brian Goorjian hadn’t heard back from injured star, Aron Baynes.
Goorjian revealed in an interview he’d reached out to Baynes but hadn’t heard back.
“Right after that interview (came out) I got a message from Aron saying, this is my new number, and it would be great to chat. I’ll give him a call,” Goorjian said via Newscorp.
Baynes suffered a neck injury when he slipped in the dressing rooms at the Tokyo Olympics and has been ruled out for the NBA season.
