Missing Snakes
The Cairns Taipans will enter tonight’s game against the South East Melbourne Phoenix shorthanded.
Star guard Scott Machado is still recovering from a heel injury and won’t play. Mirko Djeric (calf) and Kouat Noi (precautionary) will also be out.
In better news, Tahjere McCall is healthy and will play, while replacement player Marshall Nelson has travelled with the squad.
Fun Froling
Harry Froling had a simple message after he nailed eight three-pointers and scored 27 points in the Illawarra Hawks’ win over the Adelaide 36ers last night.
“It was probably the most fun I've had playing basketball,” Froling said via ESPN.
Creek weary of former teammate
Phoenix star Mitch Creek knows how important it is to stop McCall in tonight’s clash with the Taipans.
Creek and McCall were teammates at the Long Island Nets in the NBA G-League.
“I played with Taj, I know how good he is offensively and defensively, he’s an absolute menace…we’ve stayed in touch since he’s come over here and since I left America. He’s a phenomenal player,” Creek said via the Herald Sun.
Roth puts on the heat
Tasmania JackJumpers coach Scott Roth has called for his players to start hitting shots as the team’s offensive struggles continue.
“We have guys who aren’t making shots who need to step up and start making shots, which would help us across the board,” Roth said via Fox Sports.
