Forde urges McCall and Machado to work together 

Taipans coach Adam Forde says he has urged star duo Tahjere McCall and Scott Machado to work together and get the best out of each other.

“I put it on them really to gauge where they can work best on the floor and where they can find each other,” Forde said via the Cairns Post.

Newley’s defensive switch

Melbourne United veteran Brad Newley says being challenged to defend quicker players forced him to change his body ahead of the season.

“The challenge from (coach) Dean (Vickerman) was ‘can you guard a two (shooting guard)? Can you guard a three (small forward)?’ I had to be ready to do that. That meant dropping a bit of weight and getting a bit of my speed back and that’s probably what’s kept me in the game, being able to defend (and) … just looking after my body,” Newley said via Newscorp.

Father a big role model for Sotto 

Adelaide 36ers star Kai Sotto says his father, Ervin Sotto, has played a big role in his basketball journey.

“My father plays a big role in my basketball career; he taught me to respect the game. After each game, we’d discuss what I did right, what I need to improve on, having him around is very helpful for me,” Sotto told SBS.
