Shannon Scott has traded Far North Queensland for Southeast Queensland by signing a two-year deal with the Brisbane Bullets.
Shannon Scott has traded Far North Queensland for Southeast Queensland by signing a two-year deal with the Brisbane Bullets.
The 30-year-old point guard will stay in the NBL after playing one season with the Taipans, where he played a crucial role in the side’s surge up the table and run to the semi-finals.
Scott averaged 10.3 points, 5.4 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game across 31 games NBL23, but injury restricted him to just three appearances in the post-season.
Prior to arriving in the NBL, he had played professionally in the NBA's G-League, Germany, Greece, Lithuania and Venezuela.
“From the outset we have wanted a high IQ, pass-first guard that can create their own when needed, Shannon is that guy,” Bullets head coach Justin Schueller said.
“He had an outstanding season last year and has shown he can impact the game at both ends of the floor.
“We feel he complements the pieces that we have put together on this roster and it’s an exciting addition for our club.”
“I chose to sign with the Bullets because I saw an opportunity to play with a group of guys that were hungry to make noise in the NBL and shock the league,” Scott added.
“Playing in the NBL last year allows me to come back and have a better understanding of the teams’ styles, the speed and physicality of the league and how tough each and every game will be with so much talent.
“I’m most looking forward to getting Brisbane back into the hunt and getting a chance to continue to learn in this league.”
Scott joins Mitch Norton, Josh Bannan, Isaac White and Sam McDaniel in committing to the club for NBL24, while Aron Baynes, Nathan Sobey, Tyrell Harrison and DJ Mitchell remain from the side’s NBL23 campaign.
