What is the Ignite Cup?

The in-season tournament is played across 20 Wednesday night games, with every result counting towards the regular season ladder. A unique quarter-by-quarter scoring system decides a separate Ignite Cup ladder.

For NBL27, the tournament evolves into a four-team Ignite Cup Finals Series at AIS Arena in Canberra. The teams will battle it out for a share of $550,000 in prize money, the largest in League history and up from last season's $400,000.

Talking points

Reinforcements have arrived

The Brisbane Bullets have been hit hard by injuries through the first five rounds, which is a case of déjà vu for their fans; however, reinforcements have arrived.

Former NBA and international star Raul Neto has touched down in Brisbane and is ready to get on the floor with his teammates.

In his introductory press conference, the veteran guard spoke about how he’s at a point in his career where he isn’t chasing his own numbers, but rather getting everyone involved and helping win basketball games. That’s music to Brisbane fans’ ears.

The benchmark

Tasmania will play their third straight home game in their Ignite Cup game against the Bullets, and it’s yet another chance for them to show fans they’re the real deal in NBL27.

Led by Taran Armstrong and Will Magnay, this JackJumpers team is building nicely, ticking off wins and showing very limited weaknesses across the board.

With some key players still to come back into the side, Scott Roth has plenty to work with as he builds towards the busy part of the season.
