Five NBL Stars Named to Tall Blacks Roster

New Zealand’s roster for the upcoming FIBA break has a distinct NBL flavour, with five players from the competition selected to represent their nation.

Walter Brown, Hyrum Harris, Tyrell Harrison, Reuben Te Rangi and Tohi Smith-Milner have been selected, while Tai Webster and Shea Ili have been cut from the initial squad of 24 due to injury.

Stalwarts Izayah Le’Afa, Tom Vodanovich and Tom Abercrombie are missing from the side, as they prepare to take on the Sydney Kings in the upcoming NBL Championship Series.

The Tall Blacks will suit up for two games in the upcoming break – with both clashes to be played at home.

They play Saudi Arabia in Christchurch on Friday, February 24 before heading to Wellington to take on Lebanon on Monday, February 27.

The NBL returns to action following the completion of the upcoming FIBA break, with the first clash of the best of five series between the Kings and Breakers set to kick off on Friday, March 3.
