Dieng Shines In Summer League

Thursday, July 6, 2023
Former Breakers Next Star Ousmane Dieng put in a strong performance in his second appearance at the 2023 California Classic.
Former New Zealand Next Star Ousmane Dieng played a key role in Oklahoma City’s California Classic comeback against Memphis, but it wasn’t enough as the Thunder fell to the Grizzlies by eight points.
Dieng contributed across the board for his side, and ended the game with 13 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals, assists and blocks.
After trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, the Thunder rallied behind the electric scoring of Tre Mann to enter the half-time break with just a two-point deficit, however they struggled to maintain the offensive rage in the second half and scored just 32 points in the final two quarters.
Dieng made 39 NBA appearances last season following his selection with the 11th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, including one start.
He’s set to link up with fellow former Next Star Josh Giddey in the upcoming season for the Thunder, and could be joined by fellow former NBL players Jack White and Patty Mills.
The now 20-year-old made 23 appearances for New Zealand in NBL22.
