Brisbane Bullets superstar Nathan Sobey has revealed Jason Cadee is the “best teammate I’ve played with”.
Cadee will reach the 350-milestone when the Bullets face the Tasmania JackJumpers on Saturday night.
After spending almost four years together at Brisbane, Sobey couldn’t speak highly enough of Cadee as a player and a person.
“He’s the best teammate I’ve played with. Love playing with him and being around him both on and off the court,” Sobey told the club’s website.
“He’s a great person to have around the club. He really does what he can for everyone else and puts himself next in line after that.”
Australian Boomers stalwart Aron Baynes echoed Sobey’s sentiments, heaping praise on the career Cadee has put together.
“It’s awesome to be on the court with Jason and share this moment with him,” Baynes said.
“It’s a credit to his longevity and a credit to what he brings to teams year in, year out and we’ve seen it early on in the season as well.
“He gets out there and does what’s needed for the team.”
Brisbane youngster Tanner Krebs added the leadership Cadee provides is invaluable.
“The first thing that comes to mind is his leadership. He’s been a leader in this league for a long time and that’s just a huge testament to his character,” Krebs said.
Staying true to his persona, Cadee shared one of the most memorable parts of his career has been the relationships he has built.
“The people along the way that I have got to play alongside or get to know,” Cadee said.
“That’s the thing right now, without winning a title, that will obviously go in there if I can get one of those, but the people I have been around has definitely played the biggest part of my career.”
Cadee began his NBL career in 2010 with the Gold Coast Blaze. He stayed with them until 2012 before joining the Adelaide 36ers (2012-2014), Sydney Kings (2014-2018) and the Bullets (2018-present).
Months after signing his Blaze contract, Cadee was involved in a car accident which put his basketball career in jeopardy.
Overcoming that hurdle makes the 350th achievement hold more significance for the 31-year-old.
“The one thing that kind of always hits me is I almost didn’t get to play any games. So, fast forward to this, it makes it all a little bit more special,” Cadee said.
