Bruton: 'Slow Burn For Sixers'

Adelaide head coach CJ Bruton has warned fans to not expect any signings in the immediate future
Adelaide head coach CJ Bruton has warned fans to not expect any signings in the immediate future, and has stated “there is still a lot of background work to do” before adding any more new players to the roster.
The 36ers are in the unique position of having two import players already contracted for next season in Antonius Cleveland and Robert Franks, but their local contingent of players has seen some change.
Jason Cadee and Isaac Humphries – along with development player Keanu Rasmussen – have been added to the roster for the upcoming season, while Hyrum Harris and Anthony Drmic have both officially departed for Perth and Tasmania respectively.
“There are a couple of players who I’ve been speaking to,” Bruton said. “Their agents – not so much them right now.
“A few more names will keep popping up on the list, but I don’t think it’s going to get done in the next couple of weeks.
“I’m excited we’re doing the search and the homework to make sure we have every piece in place for us to be successful.”
Both Cadee and Humphries are preparing to begin their second stints at the club in NBL24.
Cadee, now 32, spent two seasons with Adelaide between 2012 and 2014, before departing for the Sydney Kings.
Humphries, on the other end, spent just one season away from the 36ers, with Melbourne United.
“I think we’re definitely heading in the right direction,” Bruton said of the signings.
“Jason Cadee is an outstanding player and has had an amazing career to this point. His leadership and skillset, to representing the country, to helping them qualify for a World Cup or Olympics has been amazing, and I’m excited to have him on board.
“He brings a lot of tangibles we need.
“Having Isaac return to the club – having the big fella – I’m super excited.
“We already know his impact. He’s a rim protector, he can run the floor, he can get up and down, and he can shoot the ball.
“His leadership and presence not only on the floor, but off the floor, is going to be great for our club.”
Adelaide finished eighth in NBL23, despite boasting a star-studded roster.
