Broekhoff Praises Doyle Re-Signing

Milton Doyle is locked in to further carry the JackJumpers’ offensive load next season, and veteran wing Ryan Broekhoff believes the re-signing of Doyle is a smart move from Tasmania.

After initially agreeing to a one-year deal prior to NBL23, Doyle committed to the JackJumpers for a further two seasons following strong off-season performances in Turkey with Tofas.

Broekhoff, who is currently uncontracted after three seasons with the South East Melbourne Phoenix, has praised Doyle for his offensive output which helped lead to the JackJumpers' post-season run.

“He really carried the offensive load for Tassie a few times last year,” Broekhoff told SEN.

“He’s just so tough, you scout him and kind of know what to do but he’s so quick and so smart. He gets to his spots where he can score.

“He was the one shining light offensively that you can count on consistently to get the best production, turn games and close out games, especially close ones,” he said.

The JackJumpers finished fourth on the ladder last season and were knocked out of the post-season by eventual runners up New Zealand.

Broekhoff acknowledged the efforts Doyle showcased last season and foreshadows another successful campaign with the import-guard on their side.

“It’s fantastic for the league and it’s fantastic for Tassie,” Broekhoff said.

“To be able to hold onto someone like that is great for them.”

The JackJumpers’ first game of the NBL24 season tips-off on Friday, September 29 against the Perth Wildcats.
