Boomers star and NBL alum Jack White is on the verge of making history, as he prepares for the NBA Finals next week.
White and the Denver Nuggets will compete for Championship honours for the first time in franchise history, with Game 1 tipping off on Friday, June 2, Australian time.
The former Melbourne United forward last took to the court for the Nuggets on April 9, and has played a total of 17 times at NBA level this season.
He had a prime seat as Denver completed a sweep of the Lakers earlier this week.
Should the Nuggets be successful and claim their first ever Championship trophy, White would join an elite group of just six other Australian players to have tasted the ultimate success in the NBA.
Luc Longley (three times), Andrew Gaze, Aron Baynes, Patty Mills, Andrew Bogut and Matthew Dellavedova have all won Championship rings.
“As a competitor it’s hard because I want to get out there and compete, but at that same time you take a step back and think what an opportunity I’ve got to have a front-row seat to everything that is going on and really be a part of it,” White told News Corp.
“It’s a dream come true. It’s also motivating wanting to reach this point myself and being on the floor and contributing.”
White has been a key contributor to the Nuggets’ scouting efforts on opposition teams, and will look to build on an impressive season in the G-League, where he averaged 19.6 points and 9.3 rebounds for Grand Rapids Gold.
The 25-year-old last played in Australia during NBL22, helping Melbourne United claim top spot in the regular season.
