Why head to HoopsFest? Iverson is the answer

Olympic bronze medallist Aron Baynes is excited to see what basketball icon Allen Iverson will bring to the 2026 HoopsFest.
Just over one week remains until the highly anticipated second HoopsFest tips off in Perth.
HoopsFest, Australasia’s biggest basketball, culture and lifestyle festival, will feature nine exciting games of NBL and WNBL across four days at RAC Arena.
Another incredible element to this event is the attendance of NBA icon and Naismith Hall of Fame inductee, Allen 'The Answer' Iverson.
One who knows the impact Iverson has had on basketball is fellow NBA star Aron Baynes, who played 576 games across his career with San Antonio, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix and Toronto.
"HoopsFest is going to be really fun having AI there, because I can see he's going to embrace the culture and what the event is all about," Baynes said on NBL Now.
"The baggy style is back [in fashion] now and that's the style [he brought to the NBA].
"[Part of that fashion too] was his clean line of Iverson's with Reebok, which I think everyone's had at some point. I definitely had some when I first started playing.
"It's a cool throwback to see those Reeboks come back into fashion.
"[Honestly] it's going to be such a fun atmosphere, with everything that's planned, at HoopsFest and he (Iverson) is only going to add to that."
On-court action at the 2026 HoopsFest tips off on Thursday, January 15 with a RAC Arena double-header, featuring the Perth Lynx and Bendigo Spirit WNBL fixture from 7pm AEDT before the Sydney Kings battle the Brisbane Bullets at 9.30pm AEDT.
Tickets to the hoops extravaganza are still available. Find out more here.
