The key behind Lee, Crawford decisions

Thursday, August 10, 2023

New Tasmania signings Marcus Lee and Jordon Crawford have revealed the key components that led to their signing with the JackJumpers.

It’s no coincidence that the re-signing of Milton Doyle started the falling of the dominoes in regards to new signings on Tasmania’s NBL24 roster, with both Marcus Lee and Jordon Crawford revealing their new teammate was a key factor in each of their decisions.

While Lee played roughly half of NBL23 with Melbourne United – and took home the club’s Defensive Player of the Year award – Crawford is an unknown quantity on the NBL floor.

Crawford has signed a one-year deal with the club, and says the mentality of the JackJumpers as an organisation helped convince him to join.

“My guy Milton (was key),” Crawford told The Mercury. “Milton just spoke about how the group is. They grind and get after it, and he had his family here and he spoke about how much they loved it. That’s the type of player I’ve been for my entire career, so it felt like it was a perfect fit."

Lee added being able to play with Doyle, and not against him, is something he is looking forward to.

“Finally being able to play with him and not against him will be a whole lot easier for me,” Lee said.

Tasmania will play its first game of NBL24 on Friday, September 29 against Perth.
