REPORT: Goorjian closes in on Kings return

Tuesday, March 5, 2024
ESPN's Olgun Uluc says Brian Goorjian is set to fly to Sydney to continue talks to become head coach.
NBL coaching legend Brian Goorjian is closing in on a return to the Sydney Kings, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.
Uluc says Goorjian is set to fly to Sydney on Tuesday to continue talks.
Goorjian led the Kings to a three-peat between 2003 and 2005, and has won six NBL titles over the course of his career. He’s coached more games than anyone in NBL history, and has the second-highest winning percentage of any coach to have coached more than two games in the competition.

The Kings parted ways with head coach Mahmoud Abdelfattah on Friday.
Goorjian’s last coaching stint in the NBL was with the Illawarra Hawks, and he led the side to back-to-back semi-final appearances in NBL21 and NBL22.
