The Illawarra Hawks have confirmed JaVale McGee is recovering from pneumonia and will delay his arrival, with the three-time NBA champion now expected in late August.

Star Illawarra Hawks signing JaVale McGee will miss the Code Sports NBL Blitz, the club has confirmed.

In a statement sent to media, the Hawks confirmed McGee was “recovering from pneumonia and has been forced to delay his flight to Australia”.

The club expects McGee to arrive in the country in late August.

A three-time NBA champion, the 37-year-old is one of the most exciting import signings this year.
