Core group key for Ninnis, 36ers

Scott Ninnis has announced his plan to retain a key core group of NBL24 36ers heading into next season.

Scott Ninnis has a near blank canvas on which to build his NBL25 side, and the newly appointed Adelaide head coach says he’s hopeful he can keep a core group of existing players together, to help build on the success of the back end of the regular season.

DJ Vasiljevic has already emerged as the offensive linchpin on which the team will be built, while it’s been reported the club is in negotiations to also extend the contract of star center Isaac Humphries.

Jason Cadee, Nick Marshall and Sunday Dech are the only other players under contract for the 36ers.

“I talked to the club about stability,” Ninnis told News Corp. “For whatever reason we’ve had a lot of change in recent times. We signed eight new players for this season.

“You are just never going to get continued success when you keep chopping and hanging all the time.

“We need to get a core group of players together that we can continue to work with and build.”
