Unhappy Adelaide need quick fix

Tuesday, December 5, 2023
Adelaide 36ers CEO Nic Barbato says the game against Cairns is the perfect chance to bounce back from its horror show.
Adelaide 36ers CEO Nic Barbato has dismissed discussions around an early season exit for head coach CJ Bruton, telling News Corp it’s up to the 36ers to bounce back from Saturday night's horror show against Tasmania “as a collective club”.
The 36ers lost to New Zealand in Christchurch on Thursday night, before recording one of the lowest scores in club history against Tasmania on Saturday, where they were blown out by a current NBL24 record 35 points.
Star guard DJ Vasiljevic blamed the quick turnaround as a key reason for the 36ers’ poor performance, where they scored fewer than 60 points in a game for just the fourth time in their history, and the first time in ten years.
“CJ’s got a contract to the end of the season,” Barbato told News Corp. “We, as a collective club, need to bounce back from this and Saturday night (against Cairns) at home is the perfect opportunity.
“We’re not happy with where things are at, obviously ... we’re home now, we can have the rest, we can prepare the week.”
The 36ers will host Cairns at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Saturday night.
