"The Best Season Ever": NBL Documentary Airs Friday

“The best season ever” … “must-watch TV” … has there ever been an NBL campaign like this one?

Episode 6 of the Unrivalled Documentary takes you inside arguably the most memorable season of Australian basketball ever. 

From the coaching merry-go-round at Brisbane, injury woes at the Hawks and Phoenix, the incredible rise of the teams no one rated, the Cairns Taipans and New Zealand Breakers … that was just the start. 

All eyes were on the Perth Wildcats and how they’d respond to missing Finals for the first time in 35 years, the Adelaide 36ers making history in the United States, then failing to fire back home. 

Then there was last year’s regular season champions, Melbourne United, trying desperately to overcome the loss of so many stars, and their nemesis from NBL22, the Tasmania JackJumpers once again looking to inspire an entire state. 

And of course, who could forget the Sydney Kings? A team simply unrivalled in NBL23. 

There were incredible stories across every team, star players doing their thing, and fans turning up like never before – record crowds and TV numbers making for an incredible spectacle. 

Unrivalled highlights the remarkable five-game Championship Series, and the highs and lows of professional sport – Chase Buford, Mody Maor … Paul Smith, Matt Walsh – go inside the change rooms for never-before-seen access to the coach’s speeches, the celebrations, the commiserations. Emotions were high, and our cameras were there every step of the way.
