The pilgrimage to the NBA Summer League is a journey undertaken by almost every NBL coach ahead of a new season.

The pilgrimage to the NBA Summer League is a journey undertaken by almost every NBL coach ahead of a new season.

The opportunity to see some of the best young talent in the world – drafted to the NBA or otherwise – affords clubs to opportunity to pack out their import spots with the highest ability players they can find.

That pilgrimage, though, may not be travelled by Melbourne head coach Dean Vickerman this year.

“There’s in some ways, a hope for me that I’m not attending Summer League this year, that our roster is complete before that time,” Vickerman said.

“If we can find the right guy we’ll certainly snap him up before Summer League.

“We’ve already got a pretty decent list of guys we think can fill the role and I think that will continue to grow.”

Among United's current signings, Matthew Dellavedova, Jo Lual-Acuil and Luke Travers, alongside the experience of Chris Goulding, Shea Ili and Brad Newley, and emerging talents Ariel Hukporti, Tanner Krebs, Flynn Cameron and Kyle Bowen.
