NBL Abroad: Lual-Acuil Jr Continues to Dominate

Just because the NBL is in its off-season, it doesn't mean the best players in the league are resting on their laurels and taking a break.

Stars of the Australian domestic competition are now competing all over the globe and getting important reps in ahead of NBL24.

Jo Lual-Acuil Jr has continued his incredible run of form for Dynamo Lebanon, and was his team’s top scorer for the third time in three games in this week’s action.

Up against Shabazz Muhammed and Beirut Club, Lual-Acuil Jr scored 28 points and added 10 rebounds in the seven-point victory.

Lual-Acuil Jr has now registered a double-double in two of his three appearances in Lebanon.

The performances of Jack McVeigh have continued to help turn Heidelberg’s season around in the German Basketball Bundesliga, with the Tasmania JackJumper playing a crucial role in helping his side defeat German basketball powerhouse Bayern Munich over the past week.

McVeigh added 10 points in the 11-point win to help move his side to within striking distance of the top half of the table.

Brisbane forward DJ Mitchell put together his most complete performance for Wroclaw Slask in Poland in a seven-point win over Trefl in Poland.

Mitchell has struggled to hit the scoreboard at times for Slask, and has only registered double figures in one of his ten appearances, however he added five assists and six rebounds along with his five points in the seven-point win.

Sam Froling has ended his time in Japan with a bang by recording a double-double in his final appearance for Hokkaido.

Playing alongside former Adelaide forward Brock Motum, Froling scored 12 points and added 10 boards, however former Melbourne United import Stanton Kidd’s Akita probed too strong and ran out 10-point victors.

Injury has kept Mitch Creek off the court for Mets de Guaynabo’s ridiculous run of four games in six days in Puerto Rico, but the performances of NBL23 import pair Tim Soares and Gary Browne – plus former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins – helped the side to three wins in four games.

The pick of the contests came against the Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones-led Quebradillas in which Browne added 19 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds to lead Mets to a one-point win.
